Simon and Sarah’s wedding at Voewood
It was a beautiful day for a wedding at the stunning Voewood wedding venue, back in April last year – perfect for an outdoor ceremony on the lawns! I started the day with Sarah and the girls in one of the fabulous bedrooms at Voewood – lots of space and light in beautiful surroundings. I was spoilt for choice for photos when it came to Voewood’s quirky and colourful interior!
Simon was getting ready with his best man at the other end of the house, so I popped between the two of them to grab some photos of them both getting ready – it’s really handy when everything’s taking place in one venue as it means I can scoot between the bride & groom whilst they’re both getting ready.
Once the guests had taken their seats on the lawn (in the lovely spring sunshine!), Simon took his place with his best man and nervously awaited Sarah’s arrival with her dad. The ceremony went without a hitch, although there were a few happy tearful moments: when Sarah arrived at the front with Simon, when Sarah’s dad read a lovely reading and also when Simon’s best man did his reading!
The Afternoon Reception
Once the ceremony was over, the new Mr & Mrs had an intimate ceremony inside the house (the legal bit) with just their close family & friends, before coming back outside to greet their guests, who’d lined the stairs for them. We quickly got through the “formal” group photos whilst the sunshine was with us and once the bride & groom had mingled with their guests for a while, I took them off into the daffodils at the front of the building, for some photos. I always aim to take my couples away for a couple of special photos, just the two of them, at the point in the day where the light is best. The spring greenery was all a little late due to all the snow we’d had earlier in the year, but it didn’t detract from the amazing surroundings at Voewood – beautiful at any time of the year.
The Wedding Breakfast & speeches
After a confetti throw where Sarah tried her best to fend it all off with her bouquet (confetti always goes EVERYWHERE!), the guests headed inside where they were treated to a magnificent afternoon tea, followed by speeches by the bride’s dad, the groom, best man and Sarah herself.
This was one of my smaller mid week weddings, just 5 hours – I absolutely LOVE mid week, intimate weddings like this one and would love to do more!
It was a fabulous wedding day and it was a delight to spend it with with such lovely, lovely people, it truly does bring it home to me how privileged I am in the work that I do – thank you Sarah, Simon and your wonderful family for looking after me so well! X
The Wedding Team
Sarah’s amazing bridal and bridesmaid’s bouquets were made by Rambling Rose Florist – stunning work. Her make up and hair were beautifully done by Amanda Steed and Funnells Kitchen provided the amazing afternoon tea & cakes.
