Pip & Dave booked me a year or so ago, after I’d already photographed Dave’s brother and sister’s weddings in 2013 and 2015! Although Dave is a little nervous in front of the camera, he did admirably on their engagement session and, of course, on the wedding day too!
The Venue
Bresssingham Hall & High Barn are very local to me (literally, about 10 minutes from my house!), so apart from the fact that I just LOVE a Bressingham Hall wedding for it’s beautiful setting, it’s also really rather convenient for me 😉 I’ve always had a link to Bressingham Gardens, as I lived locally as a child, so when they opened for weddings I was delighted. The Hall is beautiful, lots of lovely light rooms for getting ready in, and the wedding barn is perfect for ceremonies. The gardens speak for themselves – acres of incredible colour and beauty – couples are spoilt for choice when it comes to their group and portrait photos!
Dave & Pip chose the venue because the gardens were amazing – they both loved the venue at first sight and didn’t look anywhere else.
Getting Ready
Whilst Dave got ready at home, Pip & her bridesmaids (two of whom I’d already photographed previously for their weddings!) got ready at Bressingham Hall house. Bressingham Hall is a quintessentially English mansion house, with the master bedroom featuring a wonderful four poster bed, with amazing views across the gardens. There are lots of guest bedrooms and plenty of lovely light for the girls to have their make up & hair done. Dave & his best man & ushers arrived before the ceremony so I was able to snap some photos of them in the grounds before returning to the girls in the Hall. Pip also had two dashing little page boys – they looked so cute in their outfits!
The Ceremony
The High Barn was beautifully decked out with Gypsophelia flowers tied to the white chair handles. The ceremony began with Pip’s little niece who was the first to arrive – such a sweet little flowergirl and very brave, walking down the aisle by herself (though her dad was waiting on the front row to encourage her!). Pip’s bridesmaids followed and Pip made Dave wait a little before making her entrance! The ceremony went off without a hitch and afterwards the new Mr & Mrs had a quiet moment and a glass of champagne whilst the guests organised themselves into a very long confetti tunnel!
The Afternoon Reception
It was a really hot & sunny day so the guests found patches of shade, where they relaxed & enjoyed canapes & cold drinks. The patio outside the Hall is perfect for mingling, and for photo opportunities – everywhere there are lovely plants & flowers to admire!
The Details
Pip’s parents had decorated areas inside the hall – balloons and paper hearts, with card door hangers indicating who was inside each room. Inside the marquee, rustic jugs of beautiful flowers were placed as centre pieces, along with a small bag of personalised M&M’s for each guest. A sweetie table had personalised striped sweetie bags, and outside the marquee an “order of the day” made from wood, informed guests when everything was happening! There were some beautiful rustic details, which is exactly what Pip & Dave loved about their theme.
The Evening
Once the speeches had taken place (Pip’s dad gave a very impressive presentation to the guests!), the couple and their guests headed over to the steam carousel for rides, a surprise gift booked by Pip’s parents. Guests enjoyed rides on this wonderful carousel, before heading back into the Barn for the cake cutting and first dance (which Dave had been talked into!). I then took the couple for a wander around Bressingham’s amazing gardens in the low sunlight – we just managed to catch the last bit of sun going down, a perfect end to the photos after a perfect day.
Advice from the wedding couple
“Try to keep as relaxed as you can and keep on top of planning!”
Another beautiful summer’s day and at such a stunning venue, with this lovely couple and their family & friends! It was like a mini reunion with past brides/grooms and lovely to see their now expanded families! Thanks so much for choosing me to capture your wedding day! XX
