A Spring wedding at Voewood
I’ve not photographed at Voewood before and was really looking forward to my first visit, for Simon & Sarah’s wedding last week – and it didn’t disappoint, what an incredible Norfolk wedding venue! We were blessed with some amazing weather too – the forecast was heavy, all day rain, which just didn’t appear – it was like we were in our own sunshine weather bubble for the day!
The wedding was a small & intimate affair and I started with taking some photos of Sarah and her beautiful bridesmaids in one of Voewood’s amazing bedrooms – it was great to meet Amanda Steed for the first time, though I’ve heard of her beautiful make up work for years! Simon & his best man were getting ready at the other end of the house, before going downstairs to join their guests before the ceremony.
Sarah looked absolutely stunning in her beautiful dress and super long veil, and wore a pair of killer heels underneath, whilst the bridesmaids wore individual dresses in spring colours which were so pretty! The dresses were complimented by some gorgeous flower bouquets.
The ceremony took place on the lawn in the garden in front of friends and family in the sunshine, I don’t think there was a dry eye amongst the guests, and lots of laughter for Sarah’s dad’s “Pooh bear” reading. Once they’d exchanged rings, it was back up to the house to carry out the legal formalities, followed by drinks and mingling, whilst I photographed a few family and friend group photos – in the sunshine! Have I mentioned before we had sunshine? 😉
I took Sarah & Simon off for a wander around the grounds and found some colour in the rows of daffodils at the front of the house – and to save Sarah’s heels Simon very gallantly carried her into the flowers!
Back to the house for the confetti shot – now I know it’s traditional to have this straight after the ceremony but I think it’s a much better idea to have it before going in for the wedding breakfast as this gives the couple a few minutes to pick the confetti out of clothing and hair, rather than being photographed all day with bits of confetti all over them!
The guests were treated to a delightful afternoon tea by Funnells Kitchen, before some really emotional speeches, which had everyone reaching for their tissues (me included!).
It was an absolutely delightful day and I am thrilled that I get to photograph such lovely, lovely people on their most intimate and special days – it really IS a privilege – THANK YOU, Sarah & Simon for choosing me. XX
